About me: I have always considered myself a creative individual, finding solace in the realms of my own imagination. However, during my school years, the pursuit of creative paths was discouraged, with the prevailing notion that there was little financial viability in the creative arts. Undeterred, I found joy in drama and graphics, eventually delving into photography and theatre studies during my college years. College became a pivotal time for me, particularly in photography, where I discovered the ability to capture moments in ways that extended the viewer's contemplation. While my passion initially found its sanctuary in the darkroom's red light, I made a pragmatic compromise between art and income by shifting towards graphic design. The university's emphasis on photography persisted, but my newfound creative haven was in the client-centric world of graphics. A subsequent shift into education marked a transition from client-based endeavours to a more student-centred approach. However, the elusive aspects of creativity and self still eluded me, prompting a recent focus on self-discovery and exploration through various creative outlets. My ongoing journey involves broadening the mediums through which I express myself, with a realisation that the deeper I delve, the more significant and relatable themes emerge, sparking inspiration in those with whom I share ideas. My recent creative endeavours embrace mixed media, reflecting a multidisciplinary approach to self-expression that has resulted in powerful and evocative pieces. I am actively exploring the depths of my self-expression, uncovering layers of creativity and connection with each endeavour.
Passion beyond work: In addition to creativity, I love taking long walks with my dog, cooking, and watching films as great ways to relax, refresh, and recharge before diving into each day with passion. Connecting with friends and family completes me. Meditation and yoga ground me and bring calm to my daily life.
Positive Impact: I’m a vivacious and creative force, embodies a unique fusion of cultures, drawing inspiration from her British, Kenyan, and Indian heritage. Born in Leicester, I am the epitome of a first-generation immigrant, her family rooted in the history of migrant workers. My lens serves as an extension of her multidisciplinary soul, capturing the essence of identity, beauty, and universal themes in ways that transcend language. Her photography isn't merely a visual representation but a profound exploration, delving into the intricacies of belonging and the intricacies of the human experience. Roots, rich with the struggles and triumphs of migrant workers, have instilled in her a deep appreciation for the diverse tapestry of humanity.
